How to Password Protect files with WinRAR

WinRAR is a lightweight, flexible, and easy-to-use archiving utility that can unpack most archive formats, as well as compress to both RAR and ZIP. WinRAR helps to compress the heavy files into small which helps to reduce the file size. With WinRAR, both creating and unpacking archives is blazingly fast.

Follow the given procedure to protect your files with password in WinRAR.  

1) Right click on the file in which you want to set the password.
2) Click on "Add to Archive".
3) Then go to Advanced tab and Click on set password.
4) choose any password and Click ok.
5) A winrar file with your filename will be created.
6) Now you can delete the original file,as you now have compressed it with a password.

Anyone trying to open the rar file won't be able to view the file without the password.

Fix Windows 8 Photo Viewer Display yellow background

When we upgraded windows 7 to windows 8 Pro , our photo opens with a yellow background and displays white and transparent images with ugly yellow color. when viewed with apps it displays correctly i.e with proper colour management but when viewed with default "Windows Photo Viewer" we get the problem of getting yellow background that hides the white colour display fully.
If the built-in Photo Viewer is displaying with yellow background and orange tint, your color management display profile may be damaged or incorrect. Here is the tips about how to fix the issues. 

1. First of all,Move your mouse cursor to the left side of your monitor and click on search.



 

2. Click on Settings tab and on the search box type " Color Management " and select color management.



3. Click on " ADD " button and select " sRGB IEC61966-2.1 " and click ok button.


4. select " sRGB IEC61966-2.1 " and click on set as Default Profile button. And click on close button.



Now all the settings are saved . Now whenever you view the photos it won't display yellow background.

How To Change The Product key of Windows 8

Windows 8 is a latest version of operationg system of microsoft. As compared to other version of Microsoft windows 8 is fast and easy to operate and has many more features added. Sometimes the product key you entered to activate windows 8 might be pirated or you might activate windows 8 with wrong key. Here's the solution to change the product key of windows 8 so that you can activate windows 8 with proper key. You just have to follow some steps as prescribe below.




Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.



In the search box, type Slui.exe 0x3 and Tap or click the Slui.exe 0x3 icon.



Type your product key in the Windows Activation window, and then click Activate.
 


Now you can Activate your windows 8 with new Product Key.

How to remove items from Frequent Places list from Windows 8 File Explorer

Windows 8 has brought a lot of new features in File Explorer. .Some new features added in windows 8 is that Frequent places are listed in Windows 8 File Explorer, when you click on the ‘File’ tab.

To remove items from Frequent Places first of all you have to to‘Delete History’ shown along with the Frequent places list, which provides options for clearing  Recent places list and the Address bar history as below.


This Frequent places list is connected with the Jump lists properties.For this, right-click on Taskbar , click on Properties for Taskbar Properties and click on ‘Jump Lists’ tab and uncheck ‘Store and display recently opened items in Jump Lists’ and click ok button.



You will see that the items in the list gets removed from File Explorer!

 
If you don’t want the List to be removed completely, you can just reduce or increase the ’Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists’, keeping the ‘Store and display recently opened items in Jump Lists’  checked.
If you keep it checked but set the ’Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists:’ to 0, the list gets cleared for now, but will populate again and show the new list as you start using the File Explorer.
This is a small tip but will surely help those are confused as to how to go about clearing this ‘Frequent Places’ list.
